April 18th 2025

Dear all,

After two decades of being on the IFSS Legal Commission, Lana Paul, NZ, has decided to resign.
The IFSS Nominations Commission firstly would like to thank Lana for her many years work within the Legal Commission for the IFSS and wish her the very best in her new job.

This means we now have to find a new Lawyer to join the Legal Commission.

Being a very specific role we know this might not be easy so we would like to invite all members to help in this task and to seek someone willing to assist the IFSS. Maybe you have a competitor within your nation who works in the legal professions or know someone interested or connected with sleddog sports or sports in general who maybe would be willing to join.

Please put the word around your athletes to assist us in this task.

The role includes as follows from the By Laws:

E.3 LEGAL COMMISSION:

3.1 Each member shall hold a graduate degree in law, such as LLB or JD, or be licensed to practice law. To the extent possible, at least one member shall be licensed to practice law in the country of incorporation of the IFSS.

3.2 The Legal Commission shall:

3.2.1 Investigate the need and make proposals to correct or improve the By-Laws and other IFSS regulations.

3.2.2 Investigate the need and make proposals to correct discrepancies between regulations or between new proposed regulations and existing ones, and to correct nebulous wordings. The Commission is not intended to comment on the justification of the regulations.

3.2.3 Through the Executive Director, furnish the Members with updated versions of the regulations, when needed.

3.2.4 Review all proposals for By-Laws amendments, new rules and rules amendments, and submit its recommendations to the deciding body.

3.2.5 Submit its opinion when questions of interpretation arise.

3.2.6 Oversee implementation and application of IFSS regulations.

We would like to set a deadline of May 5, 2025 for nominations to be received by the Nominations Commission.

Please send all nominations to:
nominating@sleddogsports.net

many thanks

Matty Hammersley (chair Nominations Committee)

Bernard Pepin has decided that the time has come for him to retire and step down from his duties as IFSS Race Marshal, Race judge and judge instructor.

European Continental Championships 2026 - looking for organizers
Collapse/Expand

Dear European members,

Since 24/25 season is almost over, we need to start thinking of the next season and specifically of 2026 and where the Continental Championships will take place.

In Europe we have to organize two of them: Dryland ECh and On-Snow ECh.
By now there is not any official application for any of them. There is more hurry for the On-Snow ECh, because time is running and it is less than 12months to do it!!

So as Europe CD, I would like to encourage you on finding organizers in your Associations, Clubs and national Federations interested on being a possible venue for our European Continental Championships.

I am at your disposal for more information and any questions any of you may have.

Let’s make sleedog sport in Europe good for your athletes all together!

Sincerely,

Monica Pacheco
CD Europe
