I am 14 years old and in 8th grade in school. I will turn 15 in May 2025.

I have been competing in sleddog sports from the age of five when I took part in a 2-day 30km x 2 stage race, the Barnas Finnmakslopet, in Alta, Norway, with four of our older dogs. 

I have competed in this race most years and in January 2025, I completed my first 100km race, the Beaskades, also in Norway (I came third). I am lucky that I live close to Alta, a big dogsled racing hub, since there are really no opportunities (or support) for youth to gain the skills and experience needed to compete in long-distance mushing in Finland.

I also compete in mountainbiking (Enduro and XC) and I am in Finland's middle-school academy for freeskiing. Skiing is probably my favourite sport at present and I spend a lot of time practicing on home-made jumps and rails in my backyard.

To be honest, I like skiing and biking more than dog-sledding since I have grown up on a 200+dog sleddog farm which hosts c.15000 clients each year - and the 'fun-to-work-to-sleep' ratios are definitely better with both skiing and biking than with dog work.  However, racing is definitely the most exciting part of this life and I am excited to have a chance to compete in a World Championship event at this age.

I don't believe that I will win any competitions for a while, since for the client work, we have always prioritised eg good fur over speed in breeding, but I am excited to see what my dogs and I will learn and how we will perform during the event.
