IFSS Seeks Bids for 2011 Dryland World Championships |

Monticello, Minnesota USA – The International Federation of Sleddog Sports (IFSS) is seeking bids to host the 2011 IFSS Dryland World Championship. IFSS Dryland World Championships are generally held in the fall of the year over a 3-4 day weekend. National federations are encouraged to apply. Deadline for bids to be submitted is November 1, 2009. It is anticipated that the IFSS Council will make its decision in January, 2010.

Anti-Doping Books for Children Available From Rob Koehler, WADA Director of Education & Program Development
Montreal, Canada, July 20, 2009 –WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency, has partnered with Chooseco, the publisher of the hugely popular Choose Your Own Adventure series of interactive children’s books, to publish two titles focused on good decision-making and sport values. These books are available in English and French. The objective of the books is to present the reader with difficult, realistic decisions in competitive sports, including choices about doping and cheating. The title aimed at younger readers (Always Picked Last) examines issues of cheating. The multiple choices in each title lead to multiple endings. |

July 5, 2009 – The Grande Odyssee race organizer, Henry Kam, took the initiative of organizing the first Long Distance Race Organizers Symposium at the Alfort Veterinary School in Paris on Monday afternoon, June 29 and Tuesday morning, June 30, 2009. Eight race organizers were present: La Grande Odyssee (France), Pirena (Spain), Amundsenrace (Sweden), Femundlopet (Norway), Arctic Barents Race (Russia-Norway-Finland-Sweden), Pasvik Trail (Norway), Hope-Naderzhda (Russia), and Finnmarkslopet (Norway). The Yukon Quest had also planned to attend the symposium, but a last minute obstacle prevented their sending a representative. The Czech federation (Svaz Sportu Psích Sprezeni) and the Slovak federation (Slovenski Klub Vondikov Vleçnih Psov) were also represented, |
